I was born in 1965. I studied architecture and I have been working at a number of offices in Aachen and Rostock, along with some self-employed work. Since 2005, I work for the city of Rheinfelden in south-western Germany.
I started photography at about the age of ten and restarted seriously in 2002 (that's when I started this web site.) I consider myself a not-too-serious amateur. There was a period when I was in love with compact rangefinder cameras from the 1960s and 1970s and collected them. Those days are over. I still like and use them, but a great deal of the cameras that are reviewed on this website have since been sold. Nowadays I use digital cameras most of the time. I acquired a Nikon D70s in early 2007 and replaced it with a Fujifilm X-E1 in early 2013 to get back some of that ol' rangefinder feel. A couple of other Fuji Xs followed, and I have never looked back so far. Currently my main camera ist the Fuji X-T1, but the X-E1 and X30 still get a lot of mileage.
I started playing guitar in 1980 and restarted in 2006. Eventually I might open a music department on this website, but there's a long way to go.
I am married to the best girl in the world and have a son who is grown up now and having a great time (at least I hope so).
